LAKEFRONT FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES
OPENING AND CLOSING NIGHT FILMS

Festival’s virtual lineup includes award winning favorites

COLUMBIA, Maryland - From July 22 – 24, 2021, the Lakefront Film Fest will premiere with a slate of independent films and a slew of award-winning stories from across the globe. This year’s festival selections—spotlighting engaging features, documentaries, and short films—will be streaming virtually. In addition to the films, the lineup includes a variety of panel discussions with veteran film critics and creatives.

The festival will kick off with Venezuelan flamenco documentary Siudy Entre Mundos (Between Worlds) - 50 performances of the American Dream. From award-winning writer/director/producer Pablo Croce (“Like Water”), this inspirational doc follows flamenco prodigy Siudy Garrido and her dance troupe in an attempt to bring their production "Entre Mundos" to a famed midtown New York stage and to sustain a successful multi-month run.

Closing out the festivities will be Take Out Girl, starring Hedy Wong. This daring thriller follows a desperate 20-year-old Asian woman, who parlays her Chinese food delivery expertise into a profitable drug hustle in order to give her family a better life and to save their failing restaurant.

In addition, the festival’s Talk Series will feature a trio of highly anticipated discussions. Chaz Ebert, film producer and CEO of Ebert Digital, will be our special guest in a discussion about her storied career and the continuing legacy of RogerEbert.com. Black Reel Award winner and influential director/producer, Neema Barnette (Genius: Aretha, Queen Sugar) joins the festival for the second riveting conversation in the series. Rounding out the talk programming, Hollywood power couple Roxanne Avent (producer) and Deon Taylor (writer/director) will be our Guests of Honor for an exploration of independent filmmaking and the rise of their Hidden Empire Film Group.

Tickets are on sale now. Screenings are priced at $10 per screening. Premium access passes, which will include access to all the film viewing is $49. For list of all screenings and programs visits https://lakefrontfilmfest.com/home/ .
